Retrofit Woodwork for a Historic House

Baraa was commissioned to build a built in bench seat and wainscoting that would match and blend in with the existing woodwork of this 100+ year old Lettered Streets house.  Added bench to living room and dining room made of fir and stained to match the patina of the original wood.

Custom Cherry Bed

Baraa Woodworking has had an appreciation for custom furniture for a long time and especially the inspired furniture of Greene & Greene.  Greene & Greene have influenced countless Arts & Crafts projects since their wholistic approach to design was created in the early 20th C.  Their unique perspective of a whole project, the cabinets, the trim, the furniture, the entire house and the feeling that emanates from this experience has had a long lasting impression on many furniture makers and designers since then.  This bed is heavily influenced by Greene & Greene with their cloud-lift design used here in the top rail of the head and footboard.  We hope this cherry bed is a comfortable and beautiful place to sleep for years to come for our clients.

These built-ins were added to the remodeled attic space of historic corner-store Nelson's Market in the York Neighborhood of Bellingham, Wa. These featured built-ins run the length of the wall and provide organized storage with file drawers and adjustable shelves.

Custom Kitchen Summer 2006

This beautiful kitchen was made from paint-grade Poplar and designed with Ilene's small kitchen in mind. The kitchen features a blind corner cabinet, apron front sink, depression-era glass pulls (replicas) and slide out drawers. It is suprising how much space this small kitchen has. Countertops are corian and floors are linoleum. Beadboard was used for the door panels and the backboard behind the countertops for texture as well.
